Q & A
Why did you start your company?
I saw a gap in healthcare and kept asking, “How can we make it easier to partner with patients to improve health outcomes in between clinical visits?” Healthcare has its own language, can be overwhelming to navigate and access, and layer on top of that the level of effort it takes to manage symptoms and life-long chronic disease can be daunting. Pack Health addresses this gap in care through connecting members with their own dedicated Health Advisor to help patients overcome barriers to care and achieve health goals in between their doctor’s visits.
What do you think makes the Magic City, “magic”?
I’ve been in Birmingham for over 15 years now and have seen this city transform. What is making “magic” happen is the feeling that everyone is rowing in the same direction. It’s been amazing to see the rising food scene, the various parks and trails throughout downtown, and a great startup culture forming.
What's the most enjoyable project you're working right now?
We are engaged in several projects including a randomized control trial (RCT) with one of the most recognized cancer centers in the US to determine the true impact of our platform on patient care. We are also working on new technologies and integrations to support patients.
What advice would you give budding entrepreneurs?
There are many moving pieces as you are in the “start-up” phase so make sure you have trusted mentors who are willing to provide their experience, advice and help you look ahead as you grow.
